Apprentice Spotlight
This month, PJD Engineering would like to focus on our first year Welding Apprentice, Luke Squire-Norton.
Since joining in the September 2021 intake, Luke has had the opportunity to develop various skillsets including pipefitting, plate work, welding, technical drawing and mathematics, enabling him to build strong foundations before specialising in Coded Pipe Welding.
Luke reflected on his time as a PJD Apprentice so far, sharing: “The training and practical experience I have gained is rewarding and has helped improve my practical skillset”. Luke credits PJD Engineering, expressing: “It feels great to work for a company which truly cares about their apprentices, ensuring we get the right training and development opportunities to become fully qualified and competent”.
Apprentice Mentor, Don Atkinson, stated: “At PJD, we understand that trade skills are going to prove a challenge in the near future. Knowing this, we made the decision to develop and train a variety of trade apprentices, helping to provide a skilled workforce for the future.” Don added: “We are delighted with Luke’s progress so far. His enthusiasm and passion towards the trade and industry shines through – he has a bright career ahead!”
Luke looks forwards to completing his EAL level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, in partnership with Humberside Engineering Training Association, and is optimistic about his career at PJD Engineering.
We are thrilled Luke decided to follow the apprenticeship route. Keep up the good work!
